Today I realized my issue (because I got the error again). I have HoN set up to start through Steam. When hon closes to update hon.exe, hon.exe is still in use by Steam therefore not allowing the updater to finish.

This may be a rare occurance, but hopefully if anyone has this issue and searches reddit they find this:D EDIT: I don't start HoN through steam, but steam still recognizes the game. Regardless, just close steam and see if the issue gets fixed.
