Howard Jan 22, 2013 10:11PM PST Hello, I'm trying to find out the year of my bike so that I can get/download some manuals for the bike and it's components. I also need to do some maintenance on the bike as the bottom bracket is now clunking as if the bearings have gone. This is what I have: It's a Specialized Hardrock Sport, with a 19 Sticker on the bottom of the seat down tube on the frame (my guess is 19 inch frame). It's dark blue in colour.
Frame Number is P5AJ42064 This is an identical frame The components are as follows; Truvativ X-Flow Crankset, Shimano V-Brake Levers, Shimano Acer Front and Rear Derailliers, 24 Speed, RST Gila T5 Front Forks. Any help in identifying the year of the bike etc would be much appreciated and any help with maintenance tips, links to parts or tools to do the bottom bracket would also be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance. 4 Community Answers. The serial numbers on Specialized bikes do not actually hold information (like the VIN number on a car). Our serial numbers are simply put on the bike as an individual ID number that can be provided to law enforcement in the event the bike is stolen.
So, the serial number is not the way to determine the model and/or year of a bike. The only way to know for certain which year your bicycle was produced is to use the archive information available on our website. Our online photo and information archive dates back to 2002 (if your bike is older than that, refer to the instructions at the bottom). Shoutcast Dj Program Gezginler. Each model will have a different parts specification and paint job from year to year and about every three years the model will go through a complete frame overhaul. Knowing this you should be able to visually verify the year your bicycle was produced by comparing it with the archived photos and simply use the process of elimination to find your bike. The online archive can be accessed by going to Specialized.com. Go to the support section and then select the years as needed.
If your bicycle is older than a 2002 model, you can use other online resources such as Bikepedia to find more information: You can also find available owner's manuals at that support section. The manuals are generic and used for all of our bikes. Specialized does not offer mechanic training or service manuals. For service you'll either need to take the bike to your local bike shop and or purchase a general bicycle mechanic training manual.
